@Beer of the Bass

The double bass side didn't take kindly  to my " what's the best glue to attach fake tiger fur ?",  "Bettie Page or Flaming 8 sticker ?" met a similar response 😕

My guess was they were too busy deciding if $15k could buy a starter bass or were they still just BSO (bass shaped objects) at that price.

I do know that nobody on TB down talks anyone on BC...

That’s very true, I too have never heard anyone say a bad word about BC

I love both sites.  This is as close to FB as I get.  Thank you everybody!

That’s a fair point, but why would I go looking for that?

Life is too short.

This is true.

Next time there's a BF thread, check in.

I have no problems with TB. It’s a much bigger community, but it handles the challenges well.

Still prefer BC tho. The crack is better.

Defo. And the interface of TB is just ugh.

Hello bass brothers across the pond. I know some of you are also Talkbass members, just wanted to drop by and let you know that Talkbass has been down for two days now. No announcements or anything. If anyone has any suggestions (no jokes please) let me know. Peace.

Wonder how the lyrics to Talky Bass (Goes Down) go.

When I was googling furiously last year trying to educate myself, I found that the vast majority of useful results were talkbass threads. It's a lot more pleasant than some other forums I've belonged to, and I found that the worst end of the spectrum of behaviour there vanished after only a handful of clicks of the ignore button.

Yes, they announced that there was a fire in the server complex, and they're working on restoring the equipment and it should be up and running "in a couple days."

I thought all this stuff was now so distributed that a fire in a single location couldn't knock it out.

It depends if they have ponied up to have presence across multiple data centers. Such distributions, especially where a database is involved, can get very costly, very quickly. And these costs are usually preferred to be profit in the site owners pockets... because you know, computer stuff never goes wrong.

I've heard that ped sent the boys round to be a bit 'clumsy' with their cigarette butts. The next few days are crucial- while the other outfit are in damage limitation mode we're out sticking flags in disputed turf. It won't be a complete coup, but it's a hell of a power grab.
