bigevilman Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 (edited) My main go to has been my squier VM 5 string P for a while. When I bought it, it had already been upgraded with hipshot tuners and American pickups. It's due a string change, so whilst I'm getting it setup, I'm thinking about treating it to an upgrade. Looking for ideas for bridges and whether a preamp would be worth doing, or upgrading to a Kiogon loom (think I've spelt that right?!?!) Any ideas welcome Edited January 19, 2020 by bigevilman Quote
lownote Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 Upgrading to Ki0gon is a must and no brainer. Might exclude the pre amp idea though. Quote
BassBunny Posted January 19, 2020 Posted January 19, 2020 I had the self same bass. Great build quality and we'll worth tweaking. I changed the pots, jack and cap to better quality ones, same as John, Kl0gon uses. I went for a 0.1uf capacitor at his suggestion. Bleeds a bit more treble off and gives it a real Motown vibe. Only other thing was a Wilkinson Vintage bridge. Bit more substantial than the Squier one and the brass saddles look cool. Absolutely cracking bass after only a small bit of tinkering. Quote
