Has seen off more expensive BB’s (1024x/1100s/614) and holds it’s own against any Fender I’ve played (a lot). Lives it’s life beside two basses which would cost £10,000 to order today...and I think these were £399 when in the shops. Every time I see that Orange Yamaha it's like a kick in the teeth for talking myself out of springing for a lefty BB414 when they were around. Stupidly I got it into my head they were a bit too "80s" looking. Rare as hen's teeth now and not heard a bad word about them. Gutted is not the word. lownote
Out of 40 basses down the years, I’ve only had two I really bonded with. The first was a Peavey Grind 5. As I note elsewhere, I just shelled out on a Sire 5 P7 FL, shiny new, fair bit of money. My ‘other’ bass is a Revelation unlined fretless worth very little (foreground in pic). Like teh Peavey, the Revelation jumps into my lap and plays itself, the Sire doesn’t. Edited September 19, 2020 by lownote12
dave_bass5
Maybe not quite on topic but a few years ago a mate brought a Dingwall and an old Ibanez Roadster bass to one of my gigs. I used the Dingwall for the first gig (very nice bass), and the Ibby for the next two gigs. The Ibby was an amazing bass to play, and sounded much better for me.
