Guest
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Modulus-Graphite-6-String-Bass/333490033142?hash=item4da58e11f6:g:Ui0AAOSw2VdeICuR This seller appears to list items on an auction with no reserve, then cancels the sale once ended and re-lists for much higher than the winning auction price. Some of the feedback is hilarious. Shame as it’s a nice, old non-trussrod Modulus but I wouldn’t touch this with a barge pole. Edited January 23, 2020 by FDC484950 Autocomplete! It's a way to manipulate "value". If you use "sold items" in the search filters you'll see it's a fairly common practise. Fairly stupid practise when it gets you 77% feedback 😂
binky_bass
I put a bid on this during it's first 'run', it sold for £1020, then it was almost immediately re-listed. I messaged the seller and he said "he was messed around by the buyer" (obviously BS) so I said "OK, I'll be happy to pay the £1020", and to that I got no reply! The guy clearly bailed as he thought he'd get more. Douche. Edited January 25, 2020 by binky_bass
NikNik
This was a common practice I witnessed in my early ebay days of the Noughties. Guys 'testing the waters' then pulling the listing then re-listing at a starting price that reflected the final bid of the previous listing. Another thing that pizzez me off is shill biding. Late one night, got into a bidding war with one(?) guy and lost. Next day, item reappeared, again with a figure closer to the final bid. TheGreek
Been there before. too many times unfortunately. Ebay do fack all about sellers who do this - makes a mockery of the so called rules.
Guest
He has a load of negative feedback saying the same thing. I think he’s a budding scammer.

binky_bass
Sorry, got my wires crossed with another thread about a gumtree scam!!! Yeah I've seen this feedback. Spoke to the guy again today and he's now said he'll take £1000 for it. Not sure I want to give him the business now! 😂
Guest
Note that he may be offering you postage, however there is no case, so it’s highly likely not to be covered if damaged/lost in transit. EBay may side with you, but it’ll be a faff. Personally it’s just not worth the risk, some of his feedback states no response after payment. The whole ad rings alarm bells to me! binky_bass
Same here! Though through private message he did say £1000 outside of eBay. Tempted to punt £800 and drive up there!
edstraker123
Don't think I'd entertain it with that feedback rating unless it was really close.
Guest
Me too. I bought something else whilst watching this so don’t have any interest now. If you can’t do cash on collection I would avoid.
eubassix
Seller also listed this which ended 23 Jan with a 'winning bid' of £1420; it was then immediately relisted at £1500 on 24th, then removed as no longer available; and has now been listed again (under a 'new' auction) at £1499 :- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaydee-Supernatural-Custom-Bass-guitar-Fretless-/333482328150?hash=item4da5188056%3Ag%3AM~kAAOSwM81eIIFa&nma=true&si=beP3mhQgXJnIMxjwRxlDaWaVNFs%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/333489962785?ViewItem=&item=333489962785 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Jaydee-Supernatural-Custom-Bass-guitar-Fretless/333498681980 .... Guest
It is a shame as I had number 9 made in 1990 (or was it 91) - like this, a bit battered, no truss rod, but with a zebrano top, sounded fabulous. I still have some studio recordings and it really cut through. If I could collect I might give it a punt but I suspect 3 hours into the train ride I’d get message saying it’s no longer for sale!
