Dood Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017
Just picked up my Series 2 from Jon. Buckeye Burl top with matching headstock faced front and rear , swamp ash body, maple neck and Birdseye board. Electronics are Aguilar DCBs with the East-UK pre-amp. I didn't want a cluttered rear, so no battery compartment but an active/passive switch on the front. The tonal range is huge. I got this after getting a Shuker 2 years back from Cotswold Bass and knew immediately that I wanted to commission something. Oh, and the rear control panel cover is cut from the body wood rather like Elricks or FBass. All round a stunning piece of work from Jon David PS - my existing Burl Maple Horn is up for sale here.
More pictures! It looks a beauty! Quote

I played this at the LBGS and absolutely fell in love with this bass, I'm sorry @dood but this passed even yours for me. It was effortless to play! Quote

I actually was totally bowled over my Jon’s Eclipse guitar finish and I immediately told him that was the look for my next Shuker should that happen... but then I saw the build pictures of this one. Jon sent me some before it was finished. So of course I changed my mind! A flawless instrument in every way, i would be so proud to own such a bass, especially knowing that Jon Shuker is the very cream of the crop when it comes to UK talent. (A well known premium USA luthier known for very expensive basses was very complimentary over Shuker’s work!) Oh and tone..... yum! Jon knows his electronics!!! Quote
charic Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Yeah I saw it a couple of weeks ahead of schedule when I was getting my wedding bass sanded down My next bass is almost certainly going to be a shuker Quote
Dood Posted November 16, 2017 Posted November 16, 2017 Mine has just been featured on the Shuker Facebook pages: 2 Quote

3below Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 i don't have a Shuker but do have a G&L L1505 that suffered a terminal truss rod and fingerboard failure. Jon replaced the rod and fingerboard with the added bonus of stainless frets. The quality of his work and materials is outstanding, it is significantly better than the original bass. The cost of the repair was incredibly good value. Top chap and bass builder. 1 Quote
MuddBass Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 I purchased this little beauty a little while ago. I was in the market for a light 4 string bass to help my back endure long concerts etc. This "Supperleggera" is simply fab and is one of my favourite 4-string basses now. MuddBass Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Oh, and I forgot to add... Jon made a P and also a J neck for me. Long story, but essentially I couldn't decide what was the best option! Currently running it with the J neck. Quote

I did sell it to get my current pair of Shukers that have been in service for over ten years now. I've been through a lot of basses but the Shukers have, understandably, outlived the lot. I can't wait until I can get another! Quote
haimesy Posted September 22, 2019 Posted September 22, 2019 I’ve just got this from Jon . And thoroughly enjoying my first Shuker experience . its a lovely built bass and weighs only 3.7kg.. 5 Quote

peted Posted September 28, 2019 Posted September 28, 2019 Have another pic of my Shuker Singlecut fanned fret 6, because it's kept me from wanting a new bass for about 10 years now. 3 Quote
Ashwood1985 Posted January 28, 2020 Posted January 28, 2020 (edited) Was on the hunt for a high quality, traditional body jazz 5er. Just picked this light grey beaut up from bass direct. Can’t wait till it arrives to try it out. The passive Villex pickups with mid cut/boost and treble roll off seem perfect for me. Will update when it’s in my hands.
