dmccombe7
Anyone ever heard this. Came across it by accident on Youtube. Its an early recording of Rush from 1974 in Ohio just one month after Neil Peart joined. This is Rush doing what they do best. Some amazing bass going on back then when they were early 20's. https://youtu.be/tbiOJ2fiqNM Edited January 29, 2020 by dmccombe7
pintspiller
Clicked onto link to get it into my YouTube history so I can listen later. The bass came through on my ten second listen on the phone!
Woodinblack
Funny, because yesterday this popped up on my youtube, which is obviously before that: Then there is another one at the end of 1974 with Neil Peart, so you can contrast with the same songs Actually it might be the video of the same audio Edited January 29, 2020 by Woodinblack
dmccombe7
I'd seen some short clips of the St Catherine's gig but the one i posted is the full concert and it sounds good altho you can hear a lot of fret noise from Geddy. Just makes it real from back in the day. Dave
GigJones
I've had this Rush live, at the Capitol Theatre, on my MP3 player for quite some time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrBWZscNR18 It was from their 1976 "Caress of Steel" tour. Raw "in your face" rock . I saw this show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. They were the only band on the ticket.
Bassassin
That Fifth Order Of Angels show is a bootleg of a radio broadcast that's been doing the rounds for a long time, I think it's broadly seen as the best quality early Rush recording. Not heard it for years but I do remember being amazed to hear bits of what became By-Tor & The Snow Dog in the middle of Working Man! Particularly considering Peart had only been in the band for a couple of weeks. Will have a listen to the '76 recording, don't think I've heard that one. dmccombe7
Even back then in the very eraly days of Rush Geddy's playing was exceptional for a rock bassist. Dave

wateroftyne
...and I do like Neil's very un-Neil moment at around 35 minutes in. He must have started thinking about what he was having for dinner, or summat.
