TwoStringsWouldBeEnough
Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you owns a Gibson 5 string bass? I am intrigued by the looks of their EB series (either the more Thunderbird ones or the 2017 ones more Peavey looking) but I haven't found them in any stores so eventually I landed on a Yamaha BB735a but I'd like to have a second bass for different sounds and to use live and in studio. Any help from owners or people that has tried them out would be great. Thank you!
Strawbs664
I picked up an 2013 EB5 a few years ago when they were on offer at GAK, as I think a few others on here did too. Wasn't expecting anything special, but it turned out to be an absolute beast (in a good way). The pickups are stupidly powerful and versatile. With the coil tap option you can go from a lovely growl to a more vintage tone with a couple of twiddles and clicks . And, it's ridiculously light! Much lighter than anything else I have. It's the only 5er I have, so took a little bit of getting used to but it's now one of my favourites.
Woodinblack
I got one of the same ones, sounded fantastic, but string spacing turned out to be too big for me, so I passed it on. Was a great sounding bass though.
dannybuoy
They seem like great, very underrated basses. Incredibly light, too. I’m also a Yamaha BB player, and the EB5 has been on my radar for some time. Never played one, but read plenty of glowing reviews from very happy owners!
