JDM
The String height on my Ibanez GSR200, I've noticed that E and the G string are noticeably lower in height than me middle strings (not a lot though). Is there a set pattern with string height or is it down to the preference of the individual as to what's comfortable ?. I have noticed eight teeny weeny adjusters (2 per string) which I think maybe adjust the height. Is adjustment easy or do the more learned and experienced members recommend that I keep my fingers out of it ? What's all the string height about anyway ?. Please excuse my Uneducated state of Boxgroveness
Mr. Foxen
The height is a preference thing. Too low rattles, too high is hard to fret. The fretboard is curved so the outer strings will be lower to follow the curve.
~tl
With a radiused fret board, then the outer two strings are generally set slightly lower than the inner two, so that the height of each string off the fret board is pretty much constant. In the end, it's all down to individual preference though. If you're unhappy with it, then there's nothing to stop you from adjusting it yourself. Just tighten or loosen the grub screws to move each saddle up or down.
