Phil Starr Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Here you go, this is a list of the most popular chords/tabs on Ultimate Guitar all with over 11,000,000 hits worldwide. Obviously it's a skewed list as it is mainly guitarists, lots of US users but lot's of British songwriter success. Very little rock music but I guess representative of what young musicians are learning over the last 10 years. Very few would make the set list of a covers band but there are a couple of old favourites. I'm feeling old, I had to look some of these songs up Jeff Buckley Hallelujah John Legend All Of Me Passenger Let Her Go Ed Sheeran Perfect Led Zeppelin Stairway To Heaven Jason Mraz Im Yours Ed Sheeran Thinking Out Loud Plain White T's Airplane Elvis Presley Cant Help Falling In Love Coldplay The Scientist Adele Someone Like You Metallica Nothing Else Matters Bruno Mars When I Was Your Man Justin Bieber Love Yourself Ed Sheeran Photograph Oasis Wonderwall Vance Joy Riptide Pink Floyd Wish You Were Here Radiohead Creep Oasis Dont Look Back In Anger Quote

hooky_lowdown Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Surprised Seven Nation Army by The White Stripes isn't on the list, I hear it everywhere. Quote

I guess since this is a site where there are more guitarists than bassists and the famous riff is usually played on bass it wasn't going to get to the top. I thought it would be the highest scoring bass riff but the first one I could find was Muse. I trawled through over 500 songs before I found any bass tabs at all. The next few bass tabs I found were nearly all for ZZ Top. Quote
Bilbo Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Says more about the mindset of those that use tab than anything else. 2 Quote
MartinB Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Comparing the lists of most-viewed tabs vs chords is interesting: https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/top/tabs?order=hitstotal_desc&type=chords https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/top/tabs?order=hitstotal_desc&type=tab I think the data for the bass list might be broken... there's a suspicious amount of ZZ Top, Frank Zappa, and other artists towards the end of the alphabet: 😆 https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/top/tabs?type=bass&order=hitstotal_desc 1 Quote
jacko Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 There's only 2 songs on that list I'd ever listen to. Quote
BigRedX Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Anyone who can't work out the chords for most of those songs in the OP should probably give up learning to play 😉 Quote
Barking Spiders Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 so that'll be 20 songs you'll be hearing strummed and warbled on every street corner across the land this year Quote

Happy Jack Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 Delighted to see that 14 of those songs I have never heard. Seriously. Quote
BrunoBass Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 The fact that it’s chords / tabs implies that’s it’s strummers searching for these songs. It’s pretty common to hear any of these played at open mics, busked in the street etc. Quote
