EskimoBassist
Hey! Im looking to get an EQ pedal for my bass, but i really wasn't sure what to be looking for. Can anyone help please? I was leaning towards getting a Boss GEB-7. Many thanks, Rich
joegarcia
The Boss GEB7 is pretty good. I have the EQ20 though and am not a big fan as it doesn't seem to like the 18v circuit on my bass and can clip when I play hard. It's great for the programability and flexibility though. I use a Rocktek Bass Eq now in my distortion channel to add low end and it works fine. Think it was only about £20 quid used too.

It works with 18v though, not 9v, so that might be a problem for some...
Magical_Max
I'm using one of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/BASS-7-BAND-GRAPHIC-...1QQcmdZViewItem and can't fault it at all.
Whats the build quality like on that GLX pedal? mav
MXR 6 band EQ are good. I have the old blue one with no bypass, the new ones have bypass.
Hit&Run
I used to have a Boss GEB-7, but sold it for £20 on ebay. I think it was one of the Japanese made ones as well!
bassninja
I use my Yamaha NE-1 Nathan East preamp between my bass and desk/amp/DI etc. Its a sweepable/variable mid cut and acts like a 'focus' ring on a camera lens to get the sound right in a given room. I don't tend to use any amp EQ afterwards either, tinkering as necessary on the old actives...
EskimoBassist
Hey Guys Thanks alot for the help here. I think basically for the straight out simple ease of purchase and usage, il get the GEB7, even though i was inclined towards the MXR. mav
I don't know what the new MXR Eq's sound like but the old 70's one i have sounds soooo sweeet through my swr rig. Even set flat it's got warmth!

bassninja
Also just got a Behringer BDI21. Great, cheap alternative (who said rip off?) of a SamAmp DI thingy.
ahpook
best bass eq i ever tried was the boss pq3b hard to find, and takes some tweaking, but a great unit...

Can't quote noise figures etc and prob not as well screened as a metal cased pedal. But cheap if you can pick one up used here / ebay / gumtree etc.
Lozz196
The Aphex Bass Xciter is a good pedal. Not huge amounts of tweakage available, but does have a big impact on the sound.
foal30
I have a Boss pq3b probably scarce now you can use it as a notch filter the pq3b I like more than the new Boss EQ pedal.
bertbass
Behringer bass graphic pedal, don't know the number but I use 2 of them. Cheap but very good. Used one to drive a power amp once in an emergency and was impressed with the result.
