Here's my rig for this afternoon's gig

After a little bit more fiddling I worked out the best way to set the tone controls

It's all in the buttons baby! This has gone from the rubics cube of bass set ups to the simplest.

I have mid button out. Treble in. And bass in for some tunes (big fat dubby / subby stuff) and out for the rest. Magic.

I’m totally going to try this on my Trace V6!

you need to remember to be super gentle with the master volume, or you'll shake the fillings from their teeth

I have to do that at the best of times!

By the way, this is not a joke post. I really do set it like this and use the buttons to fine tune it. It's brilliant.

My little CTM15 works much the same, although doesn't have the buttons.

Pretty clean yes. I suspect if I turned up  a bit more it would have had more than a little hair on it, bit I couldn't turn it up. Would have been too loud.

I always assumed that the knobs were there for decoration.

Does it run clean like that? Most amps that use a master volume would be getting pretty dirty with every preamp control maxed.

Depends if you plug it in high or low.

No. I've the Ashdown approved upgrade and they do a bit more. But this simple set up brings the power of those buttons into play

Ah, ok, I don't have that

Wow. That looks extreme, but as the previous owner of one I can understand why. Wonderful sounding head... now turn the master up, I want to know what happens.

What are the cabs, Stew? Obviously Barefaced singles, but….

I'd love a rig like that but last time I saw a CTM 100 in a shop, I tried to lift it and decided it was bolted down for security. It wasn't.
