binky_bass Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Afternoon all ye kind basschat folk, So I've just bought a cheap but very solid body from our @Paul S, I'm not too interested in turning it back into a bass, I'd rather turn it into something else... The pickups I've just put in do work and the bass has a function loom so with a bridge and neck it could be a bass again very easily, but that's boring and I have all the basses I need for now! With that being said, I'm after suggestions on what I can do with this thing. My first thought was a clock... I can quite easily buy a cheap analogue or digital clock mechanism and mount it in the bridge position, and hey! A clock! But before I do that, I'm interested to know what other options are out there, so, what do YOU think I should do with this? If there are a few good suggestions then I'll put those to a vote and act accordingly! Quote
Paul S Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 I still think a toilet seat would be nice. 5 Quote
binky_bass Posted February 10, 2020 Author Posted February 10, 2020 No! That would be a form of heresy to deficate through the body of a bass on a daily basis! 1 Quote

DaveFry Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 With a pole screwed where the neck should be it could make : a Lollipop for helping people across the road or a coat stand for one coat belonging to someone with round shoulders . 1 Quote
Mykesbass Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Ok, going a bit far fetched here but could you get some Bluetooth bits and use it as a cool wall mounted controller for an audio player (use the knobs and have a readout in the pickup cavities)? 1 Quote
Bolo Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 a cheese board? You can always fill any cavities with epoxy. Quote

Doctor J Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Put a hinge by the neck pocket and make a door knocker. It should produce a satisfying thud. 4 Quote

Pea Turgh Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 That could make a nice bass! Rosewood bound fretboard, swap the PU covers & knobs for cream ones, maybe gold hardware. Quote
Paul S Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Something that utilises its weight would make sense. A garden parasol base, perhaps, or for the local police to bosh down doors when carrying out dawn raids. Quote
