kevin_lindsay Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Teddy Swims. If you haven't heard of him yet, then check this out. Stunningly beautiful. 5 Quote
odysseus Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 Blimey... didn't expect that! Some pipes... 😊 1 Quote
Dan Dare Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Great singer. I love it when ones expectations are confounded. The woman in this vid' of a covers band looks as if she works in the local hairdressers, but boy can she sing - 3 Quote
chris_b Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Scott King on bass for the Mustangs has a great feel to his playing. 2 Quote
Bassassin Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Fella can sing alright, but to my ears it's identikit mawk-by-numbers, headed straight for a regular Jools slot. Nothingremotelyunusual/10 3 Quote
Ricky 4000 Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 I think on balance, female vox are more pleasing to the ear than male... plus, men are such bastards already, that they really shouldn't be allowed to be singers. Quote

In fact I don’t know why all men aren’t rounded up and put on an island where we are simply required to produce a gallon or two of sperm a month in exchange for food, let’s face it, were fück all good for anything else. 1 Quote

Having given that a little more thought (as I was fettling the pickup height on a false jazz bass), I reckon beta males such as ourselves, David Byrne out of Talking Heads, etc -- are alright... it's the alphas that shouldn't be allowed to be singers. 👍 2 Quote
chris_b Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Teddy Swims, what a great voice. He's touring in the UK in May. 1 Quote
John Cellario Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Beautiful quality and vibrato in that voice, very rare. Songs a bit too mushy though for my liking. Quote
dave moffat Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 anything by these folk Tim Purcell of the Mustangs, his Daughter and friends Quote

casapete Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Thought it was okay - great voice although can't be doing with all that waving the arms around stuff.... Still, better than the George Michael attempt, IMHO opinion of course. As Chris says above, the definitive version of this song is the Bonnie Raitt one, featuring Bruce Hornsby on piano. Apparently she recorded it in one take, saying she couldn't capture the emotion again. Quote
stuckinthepod Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Is this a case of dress for the job you want- Guy wanted to be in Mastodon, all places were taken. Decides to be come a soul/pop balladeer on the flip side? Quote
