Two Eden 4x10 Cabs (Will Split, Open to Offers) £500 Harrow, London

This listing is for both the 4x10 speaker cabinets from my former bass stack.  I am willing to sell individually and am open to offers.

Reason for sale: Technology has marched onward somewhat since I purchased these and I’m upgrading to something smaller to store and easier to carry up stairs.

Description of 410-T: The 540 Watt, 4 Ohm model with four 10 inch drivers and a large circular reflex port on the rear. It was built in the early-mid 2000s and at 37Kgs it is the lighter of the two. In the centre of the woofer array there is a horn tweeter. The overall sound of this cab is based around the low-mids and has a rather neutral tone. Basically your standard ‘Cover Band’ bass guitar sound. Fits in nicely and punches through the bottom end of the guitar mix.

Description of D410XLT: The 700 Watt, 4 Ohm model with four 10 inch drivers and the two front facing reflex slots. This particular one dates from the late 2000s and weighs 46 Kgs. In the centre of the woofer array there is a horn tweeter. The overall sound of this cab is more modern and ‘scooped’ than the other. There’s a lot more low end and clattering highs for that grindy ‘New String’ sound. When using both units together, this is the predominant tone you hear.

I’ve owned both units since mid 2015 and inspected them thoroughly before purchase and regularly during my ownership. Prior to me the 410-T was used for five years in a church band (I actually picked it up at a church.) The D410XLT was (I’m told) used mostly in a private rehearsal room. Both units were kept in aluminium flight cases that were sold separately. While I’ve owned them they’ve been stored in a heated, double glazed conservatory. I’ve been using the 410-T at rehearsals a few times per year and the D410XLT at occasional small gigs. When playing any room of medium size and above I’ve been using both cabinets and rarely go above a moderate volume.

Both cabinets are in excellent condition and have been regularly cleaned, tested and serviced. As far as I can tell from the solder joints, all the drivers are original from the factory. All eight drivers are completely free of those concentric rings that come from over-excursion. The internal wiring and sockets match Edens suppliers at time of manufacture and are in perfect order. Even though I don’t use them, the jack sockets have been tested and work as expected. When originally made, these cabinets had a gold/black makers plate on the upper left of the grilles. These were made of thin sheet metal that had developed sharp edges and were removed when I commissioned them.

The rear of both cabinets have a plastic insert that holds the connection sockets and the mix control for the tweeter. Originally, both units came with standard quarter inch sockets and the now (thankfully) obsolete 4mm ‘Banana Plug’ connectors. I deleted the Banana connectors and replaced them with the more modern Speakon sockets. If you’d like to inspect the quality of my solder joints, just ask!

I had two of the D410XLT cabs a few years ago, truly great cabs! They used to be considered 'industry standard' back in the day. Superb price too!

Cheers, it's nice to hear from someone else who remembers them fondly, though the mere thought of carrying around TWO XLTs makes my back ache...  I specifically got hold of one of the older models too because it's noticeably lighter and perfectly capable of doing my smaller shows.  I remember back in the late 90's when the 410-T was the industry standard backline hire rig for festivals.  They were near ubiquitous for around a decade and I figured they'd make a perfect 'First Big Rig' for someone.

I'll be truly sorry to see them go but I'm trying to free up a bit of space in the house.  As you rightly say, these are going pretty cheap and I might even throw in delivery for the right person...

I used David Eden gear for a good number of years in the past. Hands down, the best gear I have ever used or owned. Metro combo and a 4x10. Absolutely the best rig available. Glass back prohibited keeping them. Now, if I was younger or had the luxury of a roadie, these cabs would be a no brainer. Still, I get excited when I see the David range for sale! GLWTS.

I have this awful feeling I'm going to regret selling them in a few years time...  If I could store them upstairs I'd keep them forever.

They were until recently powered by an old Eden World Tour 800.  In my lifetime I've never used an EQ that came close to that thing.  I do NOT miss carrying it though!

I had a 410XLT and drove it with 2.5Kw power amp. It was a happy place.
