Hellzero Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Would be perfect for my practice room. 🤣 Quote
yorks5stringer Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Second picture shows what happens when you try and lift it single-handed...! Quote
chris_b Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Jeeez. Aren't you just glad that D class, Neo and FOH came along!! 1 Quote
BlueMoon Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 Probably the one he used on Jackson Browne's "Running on Empty" tour.....was around that time, me thinks. He was using a double necked bass as well around then, according to pics in the vinyl sleeve. Quote
Teebs Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 But is it any good for metal? Asking for a friend... 3 Quote
chris_b Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 It's probably very good for fracking. 7 Quote
jacko Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 that would make a superb home hi-fi set up. Just needs a decent turntable. Quote
deepbass5 Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Reminds me of the first major band i was in The Leader says we are pooling some gigs to get an old Ambulance with aircraft seats fitted so we can all travel together. Its what you did in the 70's 😁 Within a couple of months he bought a new PA and ripped the seats out to make room for it and the stage risers and lights etc. Quote
Beer of the Bass Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Are those multiple Fender 400PS heads racked up in the older picture? That must have been a pretty crazy setup for the time! Quote

Ex local health authority Transit ambulance with twin wheel rear axle and a 3 litre V6 motor - you could almost see the fuel gauge going down! Every time we broke down whilst waiting for the AA to arrive we used to open a book taking bets on what it was this time. Finally died on the M18 and we reverted to using our own cars to get to gigs. deepbass5 Posted February 14, 2020 Posted February 14, 2020 Yep Twin wheel base Transit, No mobile phones or SATNAV then or any petrol stations open after about 11 o'clock 2 Quote
TN WOODMAN Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 I remember an interview with Leland years ago talking about this monster rig. He put it together for a tour he did playing bass for Canadian rocker Billy “Children Of The Sun” Thorpe. I don’t recall the total wattage but he said the thing was unbelievable. Quote
lemmywinks Posted March 3, 2020 Posted March 3, 2020 "I had a transposition pedal hooked up for the bass synth that I could literally hit my low E string and drop it almost three octaves. We were getting down in the area of 6Hz at probably about 130dB. The first time we actually tested it we all threw up and cracked a wall in the warehouse. It was fantastic." 3 Quote

Bill Fitzmaurice Posted April 25, 2020 Posted April 25, 2020 And it's fantasy. Even the Grateful Dead Wall of Sound couldn't produce 6Hz at 130dB. Makes for good reading, though. Quote
