Bigwan
Hi guys, As some of you probably remember I spent quite a bit of time looking for a Status towards the end of last year. I found this one languishing in the no-interest bin on Ebay and made the guy an offer offline. The bass has had a pretty hard life (at the hands of its previous owners might I add) but is structurally 100%. A picture tells a 1000 words as they say, so here we go. Most of the pics were from the guy I bought it off last year and the bass has been babied since. As well as the damage shown in the pics the bass has 3 non-matching strap buttons and some damage near the bottom bout (where an edge mounted jack socket is usually found) that's been repaired with some sort of black epoxy. The damage probably of most concern is the epoxy coating has been chipped off along the edge of the fretboard from frets 1 to 12 to varying degrees. It never bothered me, but I realise it would probably bother quite a few people. I've spoken to Rob at Status and he quoted about £300 to have the neck re-epoxied, fret dress, new strings and a setup. This one shows damage on top edge of neck around frets 3-5 [attachment=19788:05022009118.jpg] This one shows damage on bottom edge of neck around frets 1-3 [attachment=19789:05022009119.jpg] This one shows damage on bottom edge of neck further up the register a little [attachment=19790:05022009120.jpg] If you can live with the basses problems it does have a lot to offer. It sounds great and there's no moving the neck at all. But my love for my Lakland JO knows no bounds I'm afraid. I bought this bass as a gigging basher but can't leave my JO in its case so this has to go. I just have too many other basses. I'd be after £400 (firm) for the bass, not including postage which would probably be another £30 (since I'm in Northern Ireland and get raped frequently by couriers). Also would consider trades for a nice Strat/Tele/Les Paul type electric Cheers Ian [attachment=19787:2.jpg][attachment=19791:DSC02243.JPG][attachment=19792:DSC02282.JPG][attachment=19 793:DSC02286.JPG][attachment=19794:DSC02294.jpg] Edited March 3, 2009 by Bigwan

OutToPlayJazz
I'd love an original 2000, but I'm going to wait for the reissue rumoured for this year.

If it's a reasonable amount it may help shift it to someone willing to have the work done. Also (& off topic) - your DP Osbourne, does it have a battery compartment on the back? Bigwan
Since there's nothing structurally or electrically wrong with the bass I'd think somewhere around £500-600 quid would set it pretty close to 'as new'. And my DP Osborne does have a battery compartment on the back - but I've the East pre out of it and running it passive (control plate from a Geddy Lee on there at the minute). Macko1968
Ah, in that case I think it would be a hell of a good buy for someone. If I hadn't just bought Sifi's bongo I would have been sorely temtpted. Your JO used to belong to me I think. AFAIK only one was made with a battery compartment on the back & I bought it from a guy on the Dudepit. I seem to recal selling it to someone over your way. If you ever get sick of it give me a shout - it's one of my big regrets.
