Leowasright Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 I would love to be able to sound like Paul Kassoff (Free). And I love Malcolm Young's (AC/DC) rhythm playing. And Neil Young for both his acoustic and very eclectic electric work. Am I allowed three? Quote
molan Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009
I'd only "choose" to listen to one Guitarist...... Frank Zappa (although to merely pidgeon0hole hims as a Guitarist wouldn't do the man justice) I only tolerate other guitarists
I love Zappa as well. Saw him a few times and he was great each time, one gig he had some young 'second' guitarist with him called Steve Vai, seemed very good at the time - wonder what happened to him. . . The Zappa plays Zappa gigs were great as well. Really spooky to watch the big screen showing Frank playing the lead guitar but with a live band synched up to him. Also to hear Dweezil playing note for note perfect copy of some of the original parts. Quote
YouMa Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Zappa was amazing, the solo on zombie wolf is so sleazy, andy summers is the dogs, and nick drakes acoustic stuff is awesome, and the different tunings he used were beautiful. Quote

KevB Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Anyone mentioned Steve Morse? awesome technique without the Vai/Satch type histrionics. Don Roeser from BOC for style and knowing what notes to leave out. Quote
casapete Posted February 6, 2009 Posted February 6, 2009 Keith Richard for his great chops, ditto Chuck Berry. Clapton when he's on form. Freddie King. Mike Campbell with Tom Petty - masterful. Larry Carlton Johnny Marr Steve Cropper Dave Grissom James Honeyman Scott (Pretenders) Nils Lofgren Anybody seen Bobby Bandiera play? He deps with Bon Jovi on their tours, but is the mainstay of Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes. Great player of so many styles, ace tone and a fine singer too! Quote

Very stylish player. I saw him a couple of times in the 80's when he was on tour with vibes player Red Norvo. (He is/was also an accomplished sign-writer!). Quote
