7string Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I'm a fan of Paul Gilbert, Joe Satriani and Steve Vai and have been lucky enough to interview all 3. My favourite guitarist though is Phil Collen of Def Leppard. The way he can record and arrange multiple guitar parts within a song is simply amazing. His rhythm playing, tones and solos are great as well. Also, his signature guitar, the Jackson PC1 which has the sustainer in it, is awesome. Quote
xilddx Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009
Lol, I've been blind ever since I MET NUNO AND TOUCHED HIS HAND!!
I think he's lost his way a bit, technically brilliant though. I met him and Dweezil once, both were miserable f*ckers to be honest and I was very polite and slightly starstruck. Shame. Have to add Randy. Love Zappa too of course. John Sykes is the sexiest player by a country mile though. His vibrato is utterly, meltingly bollock tighteningly gorgeous. Listen to the solo (but for god's sake don't actually watch the video) on Whitesake's "Is this Love". I guarantee you will closet yourself immediately afterward. Quote
xilddx Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 No-one's mentioned Stevie Hillside! I love him. Quote
Count Bassy Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 In his day Charlie Whitney did it for me. but I don't think he's doing anything much these days. Quote

Soulfinger Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 To me, Kevin Breit (currently with Norah Jones) is as good as it gets. He can do everything, and everthing well. Check him out on Youtube. Quote
