WarPig Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Ive tuned my pbass down 2 steps (C F Bb Eb) to play 'No one knows', its going to be kept in this tuning, so what other songs could i learn that use this tuning? Quote
ARGH Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Ours...(Its drop C though) soon to be drop A Quote
EdwardHimself Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 There are a lot of songs in DROP C (CGCF) But not too many in that sort of tuning i don't think. Quote
bobbass4k Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 (edited) pretty much every queens of the stone age and kyuss song Edited February 8, 2009 by bobbass4k Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Learn any song using that tuning, good practice for transcribing mentally. Quote

M4L666 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Arch Enemy use (actually) C Tuning. So do In Flames for some songs, and Drop A#, their other tuning, is easily achieved from there. Quote
Sibob Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 All of my bands songs are in C standard tuning (C, F, Bb, Eb) www.myspace.com/firstsignsoffrost album coming soon! Si Quote

Nice to see some In Flames love though. Quote

Most of the tabs for that song are in drop C as well. I can see how it would be used though. Also if im not mistaken does the bass player use a 5 string bass in drop C with a low G or something? I've been doing this recently. Edited February 9, 2009 by EdwardHimself Quote
WarPig Posted February 9, 2009 Author Posted February 9, 2009 Cheers guys! Ive been transcribing a few tracks but get the feeling i may be confusing myself with the change of position. I was expecting my strings to be really floppy but theres not much difference, i think theyre roto's 45-105. Quote
budget bassist Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 I know plenty in drop C if you're interested? Quote

Sibob Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 See I just run 45-105, it's the increased core size that gives a higher tension. Basically means you can have whatever guage/tension combination you want! Si Quote
bluesparky Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Forgive my ignorance if it's an obvious answer or a silly question, but would there be tension issues with the neck if all strings have dropped tuning down to a C and kept that low? Or would adjustments to the truss rod or special strings overcome any problems? Quote
ben604 Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 My T-40 is in KGB at the moment getting 45-85 and a 115 for the C to maintin the tension. It needs a full setup to get it down to C, the neck completely changed when we dropped to C in the shop, it was just totally unplayable. As mentioned above, anything by Queens, Kyuss, some Monster Magnet, some Fu Manchu, Nebula, Hermano (check them out!). All your favourite stoner groovers! Quote
Marky L Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Rammstein tend to wobble strings around a low C too on some songs if I recall. Quote
alexclaber Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I think Anthony Jackson played quite a lot of stuff in C tuning back when he was doing those legendary Chaka Khan sessions. Alex Quote
Protium Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Every song played in standard but a bit lower Quote
redzombie Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Aren't most Sabbath songs in C? Something to do with Iommi accidentally slicing off some of his finger tips, so the looser strings made it easier on his fingers. I'm almost positive it's Sabbath, who Kyuss nicked the idea from. Quote
WHUFC BASS Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 Sabbath used mostly Eb for their songs but Children of the Grave was definitely done in Drop C. Quote
redzombie Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 (edited) Ah, someone probably told me in a drunken conversation or something and I remembered it wrong. Though TBH, I thought I'd read it somewhere. Not that everything you read is true. Edited February 16, 2009 by redzombie Quote
