TRBboy Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Hi folks, So, I have a new Sandberg on order, due in June. I was set on the finish, as below but with black knobs : However, my rhythm guitarist has a fender jag that I really love the colour scheme on, looks kinda funky and two - tone with the cream pickups and knobs: So then I got to thinking whether I could source some alternative knobs, ask for the white pickups instead of black, and go for a black control plate instead of chrome..... Did some low quality photo editing and came up with this : Really like it! But I'm still a little undecided.... Which do you guys like best, the original spec or the pimped two-tone version? For reference, the sandberg cream finish looks more like this in the flesh: Thanks for your help! 😊👍 Quote
Woodinblack Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Two tone for me but i suspect you will end up with an equal number of replies for either, so it wont help! 1 Quote

You're probably right! I kinda feel like the two tone option still looks classic, but a bit more funky and individual in a way? Thanks anyway. 😊👍 Quote
Oopsdabassist Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 For me the two tone look is much better! 1 Quote
Teebs Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 This ⏫ Exactly this, with black scratchplate, black pickup & black knobs. 2 Quote

TRBboy Posted February 26, 2020 Author Posted February 26, 2020 @Teebs dammit..... Does look nice! 1 Quote

hooky_lowdown Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 The guitar reference has a rosewood fretboard, so the bass will always look different. I would just put cream/ivory pickup covers and tone knobs instead of the white one's. It'll give a slightly more vintage vibe. 👍 1 Quote
Ricky 4000 Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 I could spend hours in that Sandberg contrafrigulator... 😍 2 Quote

Plus I think the covers are fixed on the pickups..... 😔 Quote
Grahambythesea Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 I think the original is handsome, metal knobs always have a classy look to them. When you spend the sort of money you’re spending you might as well have look expensive! Quote
miles'tone Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Two tone but with cream bits instead of white. If you can't find cream the white still looks more interesting then the usual! 1 Quote
Stub Mandrel Posted February 26, 2020 Posted February 26, 2020 Metal knobs on Jazz bass >eurgh< Quote
