Just picked up a lovely Spector bass from the Basses For Sale forum and can't fault it other than the fact the preamp seems to struggle with interference. I've completely checked the shielding and wiring. It's all well done and there are no earthing issues. I just keep getting little crackles of interference every few seconds. The bass is great but pretty much un giggable as it is. A quick google suggests this isn't uncommon with the Aguilar pres and the Aguilar themselves are less than helpful with it. Any ideas? No, I have even tried switching lights on / off and moving around the studio. Nothing seems to make it worse or better. I've had loads of active basses over the years but this is the first time I've had an aguilar pre and the first time I've ever had a problem.
