Had an awful time with my rig last week. Barefaced Big Baby2, Baby Sumo, Tech21 VT pre. Was farting horribly. It was generally loud on stage tbf but why? Had trouble cutting through. Cab and amp are fine. Do I need another cab to get 4ohms or more watts in the amp?

do you play in this band regularly?

Have you played this venue before?

For a big baby being driven hard I fear for how loud your stage volume is.

How does this set up normally perform?

Was it a hollow box stage robbing you of frequencies?

Sorry, more questions than answers

Could you have been driving the input stage of your amp too hard?  This happened to me recently at an audition. I thought that the cab was blown but enganging the input pad solved the problem.

Nothing to do with volume per se but an overdriven front end sounds terrible. I admit I am assumimg that the OP hasn't got his Bass control turned up too far. :)

You don't hear watts, you hear decibels. A second identical cab will give you 6dB more output from the same amp. That equals four times the power. That said, farting out and not cutting through usually means too much low EQ, not enough mid EQ.
