neilb Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 (edited) Ive just got my MIM 2009 Precision in Arctic White and swapped out the white plate for a black until my tort one arrives To keep my Classic 70s Jazz company. Both to be played through my Trace behemoth (shameless excuse to post another pic of my stack!!!)) Fender are really getting their act together, even with the Mex stuff. The new P has a really light smooth neck and the finish is really nice. Light too!! N Edited February 8, 2009 by neilb Quote
waynepunkdude Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Looks awesome, why would you put a tort PG on it? Quote
neilb Posted February 8, 2009 Author Posted February 8, 2009 Dont know really, the black is growing on me!!!! Very Paul Simonen. Quote

Stingray5 Posted February 8, 2009 Posted February 8, 2009 Must admit, I love the all-black Jazz too. But I can see the tort on it as well. I'd probably swap them every 6 months or so. Quote
budget bassist Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Oooh nice, first maple necked MIM i've seen, and it does look classy. I don't know why they didn't offer it sooner. Say no to tort kids! Quote
YouMa Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Do you have an audere in the jazz? Hows that working out, Does it give loads of power.Im thinking about sticking a pre amp in a jap jazz. Quote
Clarky Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 The black looks great but IMHO a tort guard will look even better. Great contrast to the passive thud of the P. Edited February 9, 2009 by neilb Quote
artisan Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 i'm with Clarky on this, black looks great but tort' will look awesome. Quote

The tort guard on the P Bass you sold me looks ace Clarky, I see what you meant about the Fender ones looking cheap too. I had been planning on swapping the tort for a black gurad but I think I'm keeping it 'as is' for the minute. Edited February 9, 2009 by Jono Bolton Quote
lonestar Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 That precision looks great Neil. Either black or tort would do it for me. What's it sound like then? I'm getting gas attacks for a P to go with my Jazz! All academic at the moment as we're skint. Quote
neilb Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 I got the bass primarily as a backup. I used it at rehearsal last night and it sounded great, huge fat P tone. One thing I cant believe is the weight, its so light. Ive got some 70s reissue FENDER stamped tuners so will put them on, the standard tuners are a bit naff. Recommended. Tort plate though, Ive decided!!! Quote
Linus27 Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Say no to tort. Black looks so much better. Quote
