jimmy23cricket Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 (edited) Usually find P’s a bit boring....but I think this is lovely. And there’s a Jazz version.. Edited February 28, 2020 by jimmy23cricket 6 Quote
thegummy Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 That's very nice (and I'm a Schecter fan too). What model is it? Haven't seen that colour before. Quote
jimmy23cricket Posted February 28, 2020 Author Posted February 28, 2020 Think it’s very new, something “exotic” or other. Not even sure it’s available yet to be honest. Was on their web site. Quote
burno70 Posted February 28, 2020 Posted February 28, 2020 Never played a Schecter but I think that's lovely. Quote
Pea Turgh Posted February 29, 2020 Posted February 29, 2020 Reminds me of the roasted FSR P. Probably why I like it! Quote
ribbetingfrog Posted March 1, 2020 Posted March 1, 2020 Always been a schecter fanboy. my first Bass was a Schecter and I’ve owned plenty. Great looking and great value instruments. that one is particularly fine looking. Quote
ClassicVibes Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Can't find it on their website but it looks like it may have a J style neck and Schecters are known to be lightweight... Quote
invertigo Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 (edited) https://www.pmtonline.co.uk/schecter-p-4-exotic No info on the page yet, but the pre-order page seems to be up on PMT Edited March 9, 2020 by invertigo Quote
Pea Turgh Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 Weird - looks like the back only is a burst finish. Surely the wrong picture?! Quote
Chopthebass Posted March 9, 2020 Posted March 9, 2020 For that price I'm surprised it has a veneer top. At least it looks like a veneer from the edge photos. Quote

It's actually cheaper than the solid colour ones, they're up for £900+ preorder. Seems to be a very high price in my mind, near enough putting themselves against the Fender American Performer range. jimmy23cricket Posted March 10, 2020 Author Posted March 10, 2020 (edited) I'm unsure why an exotic top on a bass is an issue? It's common practice to put a figured top on a ash/mahogany body isn't it? Yes, the top end Schecters and ESP Ltd basses (Korean) are quite close to some Fenders in price, but in my humble opinion you often get quite a lot of instrument for the price. I like it because its different to the standard. I think the only issue is you wont get the resale you might get on a Fender. But if you buy them as well made, good sounding solid workhorses...you cant go wrong. Edited March 10, 2020 by jimmy23cricket Quote
ClassicVibes Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 I would take a Schecter any day over a Fender. 1 Quote
EliasMooseblaster Posted March 10, 2020 Posted March 10, 2020 Me too - years ago, a similar-looking Schecter gradually killed off the longstanding GAS I'd had for a MIA Fender, at about 60% of the price to boot. It's still one of my favourite basses. Quote
thegummy Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 My 330 quid Schecter is at least as high quality as any Fender I've played so I'd be surprised if a higher end Schecter wasn't better than an American Performer. I think across the range, the American Performer spot is the worst value Fender instruments. Its existence is based on a common delusion where a lot of people think "made in America" is a plus point. So the instruments cost more because of the labour costs but aren't actually any better than they'd be if they were made in Mexico or Asia. The Professional and up also have higher labour costs but at least they are also higher spec than the lower cost Fender models. Quote
ClassicVibes Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 I had an MIA Fender 05 Jazz. I sold it a week later... Quote
danbowskill Posted March 14, 2020 Posted March 14, 2020 Shame there isn't more info on this, it looks lovely imo... Roasted maple neck? Quote
andy67 Posted March 27, 2020 Posted March 27, 2020 Just bought a CV4 in ivory, it is outstanding! Straight out the box beauty and set-up perfectly to my taste. https://www.schecterguitars.com/bass/cv-4-ivory-detail Quote
uk_lefty Posted March 28, 2020 Posted March 28, 2020 To me that exotic P4 needs a reverse headstock then it's a winner. Went through the range and the Thunderbirdish one looks good too! 1 Quote
