Phil Starr
Again I've simplified some of the problems in calculating these things. I've been reading up on Spanish Flu for years. Everyone has to have a hobby. The trouble is there were no tests at the time, all they really knew was that there was an infective agent smaller than a certain size. Many of the deaths may have been due to other causes and some due to flu misdiagnosed as something else, there's flu going round at the moment and that will kill a few thousand people this winter, I've also seen figures of 80% infection and much lower figures around 27% too. On top of that even the size of the world population in 1918 is a matter of speculation. I simply chose to quote the WHO. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spanish_flu

jacko
Billy Sheehan reported yesterday that the Sons of Apollo have cancelled their European tour. Wasn't going to travel to london to see them anyway but it could set the ball rolling with a lot of other US bands planning to travel east. wateroftyne
Apparently there's one road in Manchester where all the residents are immune to the virus. Corona-shun Street, I think it's called. (I just made that up, so you see it trending on MySpace or whatever it's called later today, you heard it here first)

There are going to be a lot of cancellations coming through, particularly for tours where the venue is 1000+. How that will affect you depends on your gigs I suppose! 43 minutes ago, Happy Jack said: Makes perfect sense ... after all, there are no cases in the USA are there? Oh no ... wait ... They're already in Europe, but with the margins on touring you only need a few key shows to fall through for it to not be financially viable. With the venues they would be playing I wouldn't be surprised if the public gathering bans might have affected them, but either way some promoters will be looking at the potential for low turnout and deciding it's better to postpone to a date under more auspicious circumstances. Paul S
The whole notion of banning large public gatherings is flawed in the first place. Mostly people would travel by public transport. The same public transport used by millions every day.

Burns-bass
There are some really great gigs around Bristol I’ve been looking forwards to seeing - imagine they’ll all be cancelled for the foreseeable. Got a friend who’s agency works with sports teams and large promotors and they’re very worried about the impact on their business and livelihoods. Such a shame.
