chris_b Posted February 9, 2009 Posted February 9, 2009 It's all played too fast! The thinking was that faster meant more exiting but, for me, that doesn't work when you record the show. Quote
greyparrot Posted February 10, 2009 Author Posted February 10, 2009 (edited) Ha ha thats what i like about it, the drive. I recently saw this band live, and although they are old boys now, they still kick like the old days. I think music should have a few bands bringing back the drive like thin lizzy did, or ian dury's band, or the stones, Level 42 All powerful super tight live bands.. Even seventys bands like chic earth wind and fire, great bass lines in popular music. Edited February 10, 2009 by greyparrot Quote
Born 2B Mild Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 I’m not connected to famous folk, so please forgive me this rare name-drop, but I have a mutual friend of some of the TCB guys. Here's a pic I took at a gig in Blackpool on 22nd July 2005. Singing on this song was support act Percy Sledge. Playing the sax is Bob Horn, who we had dinner with, and his family, before the show. Drummer is Paul Leim, Off camera are Glen D. Hardin , James’s son and the Sweet Inspirations. After the show, we all got on a coach to a party. My friend introduced me to Jeff as another bass player . Found myself idly chatting away to James Burton about strings and things. My only regret was I wish I had been more sober and asked more intelligent questions! Quote
basswesty Posted February 10, 2009 Posted February 10, 2009 Me and Jerry last year in Southampton. In 94 I did four shows as the bass player in a band backing James Burton too. Nice chap but very tight... Jerry on the other hand is a very nice chap. Quote

I think he is a verygiving person, and you can see that when he plays. he comes across as connecting with the crowd, and i think that is the difference in musicians who are 'look at me type' and ones who do it for the love of music, and to share that with the crowd. It really comes across. When i do a gig, and its buzzing, its not about what you'r playing, but about what your giving, and people can feel that connection. I think anyway Quote
