Custom bass case supplier?

Got a couple of odd sized semi-acoustic basses (a Gibson EB-2 and a Hofner Senator) that I need to get decent hard cases for (ideally Hiscox/SKB style). Flight cases would end up being huge, heavy & impractical because of the depth of the bodies - so no good.
Have had no luck finding anything so far....

Any suggestions much appreciated!!

Thanks.

Interesting post - I'm looking for the same kind of supplier for a shortscale bass that's too small for a standard Hiscox bass case and too long for a Hiscox guitar case. I suspect (but don't know) that it's not easy to find a custom moulded case of the Hiscox/SKB variety - if anybody knows different...

I'm in the same boat as you. Looking for a case fo a musicmaster bass but I don't want to pay the £160+ for the licensed fender case:

I was thinking about trying out an extra long guitar case like this one:

The new Fender Mustang case prices are insane - I was looking for one for my 1966 Mustang... ending up getting an original 60's vintage one (in mint condition) from US eBay for less!!

And the really frustrating thing with an EB-2 is that the body is actually the same size as a 335 (which you can easily get a case for) - but has a longer neck... Bah.

Hardcase do interesting guitar cases, but I'm not sure of the prices, or availability.
I did wonder about taking the innards out of a Hiscox case and seeing if a flightcase manufacturer could supply a custom high density foam insert, tailored the shape of my bass, but convinced myself it'd be too expensive and never followed it up :P

I resorted to this, in the end, a couple of seat belt comforter thingies (£2.99 at Tesco!) and hot glued them into the case to stop the bass moving about

Not pretty, but does the job ;)

Good idea Andy. I was thinking of doing something similar but buying a large, deep piece of foam and cutting it to fit the bass exactly ;)

I have something similar to yours at the moment for my Jazz bass which makes the most of used jiffy bags from play.com lol :P

If you watch the video on their site about how Hiscox cases are made you'll know why that isn't at all feasible.

Informative video that - and yes, you can see that you'd totally destroy the case by trying to take the innards out

These boys down the road in Witney will make you a case pretty cheap. The owner assures me he doesn't wear shorts like that any more, too: http://www.grcases.co.uk/

I nearly had a couple of custom foam/poly cases made for my basses but realised I was just being stupid as I have two cases for each already!

Ahh good man, I forgot you told me about them. Thanks for the link, I'll drop them an email and see what sort of prices they charge ;)
