Really good music shop in the south?

Does anyone know of any good music shops in and around the south that have a really good range of Fender basses I can look at and try? My two local shops, Andertons in Guildford and Kingfisher's in Fleet don't really have many Fenders in stock.

GAK in Brighton are always pretty well stocked. The other one that has varying levels of kit is Dawson's. I'd never buy anything from them as they're pretty expensive.

BTW I've used bob at Kingfisher many times to service and work on my basses. He's a really nice guy and I highly recommend him.

I thought about Dawsons but I know what you mean about the prices.

Thats good to know about Kingfishers.

Just a thought (and a bit of a trek) but have you tried Peter Cook's in Hanwell (near Ealing)?

They always seem to carry Fenders and I seem to remember him having a 51 P bass in stock.

Nevada Music down my way had quite a few Fenders in last time I was in there (about 2 weeks ago).

New shop opened last year in Storrington, nice friendly guys with some interesting stock. Went in there last year and they had a 51P in stock, may be gone by now.

+1 on the Peter Cook's.

Don't be put off when you walk in and see only about 15 gtrs and 2 basses on the wall. They've got [i]hundreds [/i]stashed next door.

Check their site and call first to make sure they've got what you want in stock. Good guys and open to a modest haggle last time I was there
