Stopped full time music to do it as I found it more fulfilling. I’m happier musically as a result. I got there via banking, retail, scaffolder, bottle washing (literally), builders merchant, addiction counselling, prison, probation, teaching and musician. A wee change of career and I've been a CSi/Forensic Photographer for the past 34 years, still in the job. When I did my shift with my local police station, the duty sergeant sat me down for a chat and during the chat he asked me if I had a good sense of humour. I replied yes and he went on to explain that as police they were so used to dealing with the bottom rung of society that it made them cynical and wore them down after a while. We aren't so much worn down as hardened to cynicism. Well done. Dave Actually wanted to be either a rockstar or footballer. But I’ve just gone with “the flow”, having a very understanding wife, and one step somehow has connected with the next step. Like me, you have some very transferrable skills there. I found employers are looking for specialists more than ever these days though. Good luck with your hunt. At these times its often about trust, pre-existing relationships and contacts looking after each other than actual skills. Graham56 Posted March 19, 2020 Share Posted March 19, 2020 I'm a freelance with two roles. 1) I run training courses for businesses on business writing skills, editing, proofreading and such like. 2) I edit books for a couple of publishers. As with the freelance musicians, engineers etc on Basschat, my future training work has evaporated in the space of a fortnight. Every client has cancelled. Every. One.
