Machinehead ferrules too small

I am messing with cheap guitar parts and buildling a strat cos............ummmm........

Anyway, the machine heads I have bought have ferrules which are too small. I cannot be the first bodger to run into this issue. What do people do to wedge these things in?

If anyone suggest that I plug the holes and re-drill then you need to know now that that is so far beyond my skillset that it is not true.

If it's only slightly too small then a wrap or two of tape would do the trick. No good if they're far to small obviously.

I've pulled ferrules out with masking tape already on from factory fresh guitars. Doesn't take much.

I tried electrical tape but it would not stick. I am now plumbing them in with blutack. If it works, great. If not I will try something else.

Not electrical tape, use plumbers tape. 👍

Ta. I did have several rolls of plumbers tape. Of course, now I need it I cannot find it.
