gorandelac Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 That's a great sounding bass... really nice sound!
Alberto Rigoni Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 How does areò pickups sounds compared to Seymour Duncan?
HumblePie Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Seymour Duncan and Aero Dual Coils are pretty similar. If you want a different sound better go Aguilar.
mrbassman_de Posted May 9, 2020 Author Posted May 9, 2020 (edited) Look at the Talkbass thread here: https://www.talkbass.com/threads/fodera-aero-vs-duncan-pickups.1219420/ I would agree that Aeros make the bass sounding more „modern“ while the Duncans support a „vintage“ timbre. I would add that the Aeros sound more scooped yet open in the higher registers and the Duncans have more upper mids emphasis - that makes the Duncans sometimes sitting more perfect in the mix. But the Aeros sound rich too. I personally would prefer Aeros for Maple Board/Ash basses, where the upper mid grind of the Duncans could interfere too much with the sweet spot of the wood... Although I never compared them A/B in the same bass. So there is no proof ... Edited May 9, 2020 by mrbassman_de
HumblePie Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 The Duncans have a bit more midrange, especially upper midrange which most players would associate with a more "Fender-like" tone but you can easily dial that in with a good EQ, the tone overall is not that different. I would rather go for the Aeros and turn down the passive tone bled a bit if needed. As I stated before, the Aguilar Super Double makes much more of a difference in comparison. It also depends on what rig you play and the tone you want to achieve.
cascanicoff Posted May 9, 2020 Posted May 9, 2020 Rainer, I have never seen any bass of yours in BC that was anything less than amazing. And they have been a few. I still have the Matt Garrison I bought from you. It was as good as new. GLWTS 1
mrbassman_de Posted May 29, 2020 Author Posted May 29, 2020 Would be happy to swap this Fodera against a 33"/34" Fodera or a vintage Fender...
visog Posted May 29, 2020 Posted May 29, 2020 Wow! That's something right there... 6.6kilo-dabs is a lot of money but this would last a lifetime and be a 'forever bass'. (Except for the sell of course) 1
