Angel Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 I don't suppose anyone has any recommendations for inexpensive PJ pickups for 5 string (not active)? I'm just planning building my first bass from scratch, and I really liked the PJ setup I had on an old bass some years ago. I don't have tons of spare wonga so I have to have a bit of a budget mindset. I don't want active as I have a J-Retro 01 that I'm planning on sticking in. Anything cheap (ish) but useable out there? hooky_lowdown Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Roswell do very decent cheap 5er pups. Quote
chris_b Posted March 11, 2020 Posted March 11, 2020 Bartolini pickups would pair very well with a J-Retro 01 pre amp. Quote
Mykesbass Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 You may struggle for an inexpensive 5 string P pickup. Quote
chris_b Posted March 12, 2020 Posted March 12, 2020 I agree, but you have to use a pickup worthy of an East preamp. Saves the bother of upgrading later. Quote

I've got one in a draw somewhere. It's a Bill Lawrence P-46 pickup. https://www.wildepickups.com/products/p-46 It's pretty cool and is good for 4 or 5 strings. The price isn't too silly too. I don't suppose you are thinking of selling your one? Quote
