Sold - Fender Custom 64 Jazz 1/1 £2750 Manchester

Been a journey this bass. There really isn’t anything to describe the healing and pain I’ve been through with this bugger.

Bought from a very good friend @three years ago.

I bought it to get myself through a messy separation, sold it to pay for my wedding and bought it back to celebrate the birth of Maggie.

Life really does dictate I should get my affairs in order and I’m playing less than ever - I’m debating amps, effects and other basses as I go.

so, Here’s the best jazz I’ve ever played, owned, felt...looked at.

Its early 2000’s and a complete 1 off.

light, resonant and just perfect.

The neck is 64 jazz width, 75 P depth - a total curiosity, but it’s amazing. Just a bit more in the hand than a 60’s jazz.

the neck is exquisite - flame, Birdseye/quilt.

it’s a relic, done tastefully. Olympic white nitro, with a matching headstock.

As with the flea, don’t tell me I’m a nutter, I know I am.

Tbh life is simpler with one bass you love - (I assume you’re selling all but one?) and I think once you have the urge to sell you just have to get on with it!

The Farida twins aren’t “worth” much...so that would be a pointless sale.

Gutted you’re in this position, I’ve been there many a time with a fine bass. But as you surely know, they’re only wood and metal  - family etc. is where life is really at when you’ve got responsibilities.

On a personal note, this saddens me nearly as much as it must do you Andy.  If I could afford to keep it in the family, I'd surely do so: should circumstances shift then it would be available to you again.  Alas, my spending (of the bank's money) has been somewhat reckless in recent months.

More generally, to anybody considering this, it is an instrument of very unusual quality.  Of course, it's a premium instrument and expectations should be high.  However, in my opinion, this is that near perfect bass that appears very rarely - a fortuitous concatenation of materials, specs, experienced craft-work and ageing that has delivered the golden specimen.

I'm wiping away a tear here...

This is very fine instrument for which  I swapped a pre EB MM with Richardd of this parish. If I remember rightly Richard had personally imported it from the US.

It has a wide tone pallet one of which is a distinctive full nutty rich fruity one.
