EdwardHimself
Well i figured since we have a thread for just about every other make of bass amplification in the world we might as well have one of these eh? Here's my "rig": [attachment=20152:newman.JPG] The cab [attachment=20153:P1000997.JPG] and the amplification head in it's current environment. EdwardHimself
Interesting. Considering there is about 5 and a half thousand members on this 'ere website i would have thought that there would have been more than one person who owns an SWR amp! Also i just found out something very interesting, apparently SWR have started making neo cabs And yeah it is a goliath I although it wasn't called that at the time of course Edited February 13, 2009 by EdwardHimself

Rich
Amp only for me, the cabs are non-SWR. Does that count? An SM-900 that I bought late last year. The sound is to die for, and my amp GAS is currently stone dead. [attachment=20233:my_rig_02_09_small.JPG] Apologies for the truly shocking photograph. BassBod
Thanks for the comment....it really is a great set up. I've pretty much gone lightweight (Euphonic Audio) for most of my work, and when I think about it the basic sound of this old SWR gear is pretty similar to the "flat" sound of EA, as long as you don't go mad with the aural enhancer. And there is something about the sound of a heavy 4x10/poweramp that the "digital" stuff doesn't do....even though the power levels are roughly equivalent. One scary thing. I was having a clearout a few days ago, and found an SWR leaflet/pricelist from 10 years ago when Rotosound were the UK distributors - this lot retailed for something over £2K (although the Tone Controls never had an official retail price?). I'm so glad it became unfashionable...and I could afford it used.

I just like the extra high end clarity of it, when it's on half though it does have an interesting boost in volume and gives some nice "old school" sort of mids. And yeah i mean when this rig was made in '86 it retailed for $1498, 21 years later i got it for £250.
JPJ
Just spotted this thread, so here's one of my SWR rigs, Since this was taken, I've added a second Goliath III (just waiting for a new chrome grill for it at the moment) so that I have the option of the 2 410's for the bigger rock gigs and the 410+115 for other stuff Ooh, and I've also added a new kitchen for Mrs JPJ

woolleydick
Cannot find any decent shots of my SM400S but will try to take some tonight. Here it is with current owner and the leader of my host nation. I sent this to the previous owner (Tommy Shannon) to show him where his gear had ended up! BTGAndy
SWR SM-1500 through a Goliath III and a Son of Bertha, I plan to extend it with another Goliath and Son of Bertha and run the two stacks stereo. Set up for recording. Just the 4x10 playing with Sylosis.

Such a shame Im not gigging for the forseeable.(Coming to a for sale site near you!)
