weepaul
Hello and help, I remember when i first got this amp (a few years a go ) that I didn't really need to crank it to get a good level. Now, it seems I really have to turn the gain and output knobs to get a good level. Any ideas ? The amp was built in 1990,and I clean the connections, pots, sliders on a regular basis. Could the output transistors be playing up or something else ? Anyone had a similar problem ? Cheers, Paul.
stingrayfan
Changed your cab or your bass since you first got it? Otherwise you prob are going deaf!
Hamster
Are you still using the same cab? Have you checked your speaker cables? Is it the stereo/bi-amp model head?
weepaul
Yeah same cab, I use good thick speaker cable. This amp has 2 switch's on the back. MONO/STEREO and FULL RANGE/BI-AMP. I wire it up MONO and FULL RANGE into a 1048h cab which is then linked to a 1 x 15 Trace cab( the wee 200 watt 1). Could this be causing any problems ? stingrayfan
Might need a service then. Try Steve Rowse. He's sorted out my Trace combo for me when it started playing up. Edited February 15, 2009 by stingrayfan
Buzz
Is the bass guitar fine?
Hamster
Could be a dry/breaking/broken joint on one of the cable connections either on the cable or on the rear panel. Maybe a blown output transistor? Try hooking up the cabs one into each channel on stereo (read the handbook first as I'm pretty sure there's an internal crossover, so send the lows to the 15"
Gareth Parsonage
Hi I had a problem with low power on my 500X, front panel showed input gain was ok, I mucked about with all the knobs and switches on the back and when I flicked the uv light switch on and off and it exploded back into life, nearly had a heart attack (make sure volume level is not above no 2 😂😂) Guess I need to book a service 🤔 Ah I just noticed last entry on this was a while ago but ha ho 😂 Edited April 14, 2021 by Gareth Parsonage Old post
