Love Lee Sklar, he’s decided to do a play along each day to show you his parts on his recent 'Not Dead Yet' Phil Collins tour.

Day 1 - Against All Odds.

It's a jolly good job that his beard is long enough to cover his parts, I can tell you from experience.

Check out the interview with L and Guy Pratt. What a thoroughly decent chap and great player.

I don't suppose that you have a link for that??

Cheers

Cheers mate.

I did find it actually - this is pretty cool as well, Sklar reminiscing with John Patitucci

Fascinating stuff...

Great playing again. Notice how the strings hardly move when Lee plucks/strokes them.

Also good advice. . . . . . . "We never did anything exactly like the record."

Yeah, that’s the main thing I’ve noticed from this - just how lightly he plays.

And serves the song completely.  Apart from the outro on video 2 there's no overly flashy playing

Lovely.

I knew he was a wizard...just look at the red and gold hats below his right elbow in a box😏

Think he'd use a better a camera, all the frets are distorted and sloping at the dirty end.....

Those Sklar Dingwall's are made just for that kind of technique. They have banjo frets on them and they play effortlessly. Really wish I hadn't sold mine.

The only issue I had with it was the pick-up placement which they have now solved with the Sklar II - 3 x Super Fatty's.

Thanks for posting these daily Noirbass.

I'd like to thank Mr Sklar but I don't have an account with YT.  It's like being in the room with him.  Great clips, simple and to the point.

Cheers!

I love that he forked up and left it in the video.  Never knew much about Leland before now but I'm really enjoying getting to know him through this series of videos.  Thanks for posting @NoirBass

Just watched the first video up at the top of the thread there 👆

You could show that to anyone learning bass to illustrate how to support the song, to play well without the need for flashy fills. It's a beautiful illustration and a wake up call for me. I'm nowhere near as bad as I was 35 years ago but I am still guilty of playing way too much.
