Fishman
Is it medium-scale I'm after, as it's string-through? I don't want to get it wrong what with the cost of good flats Edited March 24, 2020 by Fishman
grandad
String through Mustang needs medium scale strings. I opted for Labella Mustang flats as they have extra length silk on the bullet end to avoid the wrap over the bridge.
Trueno
As above... with various Mustangs and d'Addario strings I always use, medium for string-through and short for top-loading (that's just the MIM PJ version as far as I know).

The extra silk is there to avoid the wrap being bent on the bridge plate where the string passes through the body. jrixn1
To clarify, La Bella make both a generic medium-scale set (e.g. 760FL-M), and specifically a Mustang set (760F-MUS). You want the latter. http://www.labella.com/strings/category/medium-scale-4-string-deep-talkin-bass-flat-wounds-bass/ "This particular set is NOT suitable for basses with bridges that require strings to pass through the body of the instrument." http://www.labella.com/products/760f-mus-stainless-steel-flat-wound-30-scale/ "The 760F-MUS set is made specifically for basses with 30" scale where strings are strung through the body."
Fishman
Thanks chaps – anyone tried the low-tension LTF-4A La Bella strings?
Jean-Luc Pickguard
I've used Thomastik JF 324 flats on my CIJ mustang which were a perfect fit
