DarkHeart
For a cheapy they got the string path right on this one! Can't fault the shape either.
Paul S
This build by @Basvarken In isolation the headstock is great but in the context of it being a Grabbird it is awesome! 3

This thread is very much proof that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Personally I think the Gus headstock is eminently practical and understated so it doesn’t detract from the overall look of the bass. There’s a slight compromise of minimalist design vs getting a completely straight string line from nut the machine head post but I can live with that. IMO the only better headstock would be none at all. It is certainly more elegant in my eyes than most of the aesthetic and unergonomic monstrosities on display here. franzbassist
I like the headstock on my Franz basses. Unusual but pretty cool.

Guest
Both the headstock and body of the original Tobias bass was IMHO a masterpiece of design that works as a 4-, 5- or 6-string and is nicely ergonomic to play, too. Much better than the later MTD headstock.
therealting
4 - Sadowsky. 5 - Dingwall Super. 6 - And just to be different... I always thought the headstock of my first bass, the mighty Yamaha TRB, was beautiful. Edited March 29, 2020 by therealting
Conor&Bass
I have a thing about strings going straight through the nut. So any of those ones where the strings spread out are not for me. I think my favourite is the 3 + 1 on the MM 4 string. Like below:

Big mistake by Epiphone not using the bat wing when they reissued the Embassy bass. The simple 2+2 they used put me right off. Academic now, as I think they've binned it

MartinB
Lumpy, stumpy, pointy... it's amazing how many companies will ruin a good-looking bass with an ugly headstock. The silhouette on some Reverend basses is one of the better attempts, but then they ruin it with a giant badly-placed "R" logo:

LukeFRC
This in my book is a classic design small and ergonomic. The original adjustable bridge too is a simple and good design, I love the way the tuners told backwards on two planes too.
