mntl73
Heeeads up! How could i start the history from this bass..This is the bass of my uncle who recently died. On 23rd of december in the year 1974 he bought this bass as a christmas present for himself. The original bill from 1974 is included in this offer and can be seen in one of the pictures i will add. This beauty is all original and has seen a lot of stages and worked hard all the years, which you can see it can tell of. It is a player, has been played and should be played by the new second! owner after 35 years..maybe you? This is your chance to get a piece of 35 years of music history.Every part is original including thumb rest and ash-treys over pickup and bridge. Due to being an early 70`s, gladfully this nice bass has a 4 point bolt on Neck with usual beautiful blockinlays. For the e-Tuner there are 3 screws missing, which you can buy for a handful cents, but even now the tuner holds the e prefectly. As you can see, this bass is not a new one, so please do not expect one.. it is really used for that what it has been created for..playing those great grooves which only sound on these kind of basses. I tried to play this vintage baby by my own, but my memories are to strong so it better to give it to another one who will honor the bass for what it is..history I am open for trading and selling. So if you are interested in the bass please let me know what your offer will be..is it a bass for trading, please send me pictures of your babe, a combination of trading with money adjustment in both directions is also welcome. My emailaddy is So now it is time to let the pictures speak.. silverfoxnik
That looks fabulous to me, as I've always preferred basses to look 'lived-in'.. A very classic Jazz Bass look too. Good luck with the sale/trade!
Linus27
May I ask why you want to pass this on? I know you mention memories but I am just thinking, in time, will those memories fade. One this amazing piece of family history leaves you, it will be gone for good and if you ever want it back, for you, or your children or grandchildren, then you will kick yourself for selling it. If its me, then I would keep her and if need be, put her in a case in the loft until you are ready to see her again. You can't buy family history. Hope I am not talking out of turn with the above comments.
mntl73
silverfoxnik thanks for your wishes, very kind linus 27..on one hand you are right..but on the other hand wouldn`t it be too sad to let this baby in a case? my uncle would be the same oppinion, so it is okay for me. i missed to show the picture of the bill from 1974..here it is the case is also including, it is the same case on the bill case Bill 23.12.1974 Edited February 16, 2009 by mntl73

I know I very much regret basses that I have sold that I only recorded an album on. I will never sell the bass my late father bought me and every now and again, I get her out to play. However, you know whats right for you so good luck with the sale/trade.

mntl73
Just to let you kind guys tell you my newest decision..the Bass will stay in my hands..i played the bass again and the sound is so stunning i am not able to give it away. After i decided for this, i polish the bass once more in every detail and an interesting information comes up. The bass was bought in 1974 as a used one, so i try to find out the original birthday of this baby and it is week 50 day 3 in the year 1971.Just the Neckplate was replaced in 1973 so this is why it is a 425*** Serial..thanks for all of you, who told me not to sell the bass...i will honor the history and play it as she has to be played..thank you very much

WHUFC BASS
A wise choice there mate. The fact it was bought all them years ago and stayed in your family means it is worth keeping alone for that reason. Some people hand down jewellery, some have paintings, some have cars. Why not 1970s Jazz Basses ?? I have only ever regretted selling one instrument in the 25+ years I have been playing and that was a '76 Jazz bass, not too unlike the one you have here.
