Just wondering if anyone has tried one of these cabs yet, they are designed to ideally partner the 121p combo. i have such a combo and am wondering about getting a matching cab.

Any experience/ advice would be gratefully received

cheers

I don't think they're out yet. Also, the 121H cab is taller but has a better quality tweeter and more low end from the larger enclosure - that's what I would get to go with my 121P should the need arise!

I know it's not the same cab but I tried the 4x6 New York cab at the Manchester Bass day and found it totally weak and lacking everything from tone to volume. Very disappointed

I've been thinking about buying one of these New York 121 cabs to go with my 121 combo.

What benefits would the experts say this would bring to the "mini-rig" For example, would the sound be more full, deeper or louder? Considering the price of these cabs (weak pound) I'd like to be sure before I buy.

Thanks in advance for any answers.

Frank

PS. I also use a Schroeder 1212L with a LM II for bigger rooms but I fancy the flexibility of having two cabs. (again!)

I have now bought an NY121 extension cab for my combo and can confirm it gives a marked increase in volume and a larger 'spread' of sound than the combo on its own. it is very light and easily fits into the boot of my car next to the combo.

I would certainly recomend it - although given the price it probably doesn't represent good value for money unless compactness is absolutely key as it is with me.

Is it so good mate? and where did you get it from?

Thanks for the feedback MartyB.

I must admit, the price is a killer, probably because of the current weak sterling. I'd love to get a chance to try a NY121 before I would part with my Schroeder 1212L. Decisions......

i've not gigged it yet and only used it in the rehearsal studio, but the rehearsal volume is pretty high and it seems to cope fine. It also looks very cute as a diminutive 500w stack. i'll take some pics at the next rehearsal. One other thing of course is you can control the high frequency driver level and this does seem to tame the somewhat aggressive high end you sometimes get with the combo on its own.

I don't have much to compare it too Frank so couldn't comment on how it would sound in comparison to the Schroeder 1212L, so trying one would be a must really given the price.

As I said earlier this seems to make a superb (albeit expensive) mini rig if you are tight on space and want to be able to move it without risk of back pain.
