pougema Posted April 3, 2020 Posted April 3, 2020 Need help, I've just upgraded a Bass Collection p bass, added a Seymour Duncan SPB 3 and a SJB 3 Quarter pound, 3 cts pots and and .47 cap, shielded all the cavities, when i turn on the p bass pickup, it sounds great, when i add the bridge one it cuts the volume a bit and tone on the G and D , any ideas Quote
Roger2611 Posted April 4, 2020 Posted April 4, 2020 I wonder if it is a phase issue, I have a feeling Seymour Duncan uses opposite phase to standard on their pickups, I have a SD59 humbucker in the neck of my Les Paul and a Lindy Fralin in the bridge position, on the middle switch position (so both pickups working) I get exactly the same issue you describe....I know that is down to phase differences between the two pickups....if I back one of the volumes off a fraction it totally transforms the sound to when both are on full volume. The fact that you are using two SD pickups should negate the issue but wiring can do very strange things! Quote

pougema Posted April 7, 2020 Author Posted April 7, 2020 Got it sorted, rewired front pickup, the link wire and the ground so it was a phase problem, thanks guys, keep safe Quote
