waynepunkdude
I just noticed the tuners on my 1992 MIM Jazz are Schaller , is that right or have they been added later?

waynepunkdude
TBH I never got the aftermarket tuner thing, if it stays in tune whats the problem?

I bought some tuners advertised as genuine Fender (presumably MIM type) and they were neither Fender nor Schaller stamped. They had nasty sharp edges compared to any Fender, Schaller or Gotoh P type tuners I've ever seen.

They have the same tuners as MIA reissues. The stock blank MIMs are the same tuners you get on Highway 1's

Randy_Marsh
TBH I never got the aftermarket tuner thing, if it stays in tune whats the problem?
Thats the thing, my old Aria was awful until for staying in tune, so i put some Schallers on it, its a lot better now im sure there are other benfits...probably
thisnameistaken
I'm surprised anyone looks at tuners for long enough to notice these things. If you asked me to draw the tuners on my Thumb bass I'd probably do it wrong. I've played it every day for the last seven years.
mrcrow
looks should be the criteria on fenders a good machine head should hold the tune and like the schallers allow the tuning wheel to be adjusted for tension locking tuners are the answer for gig bags
