mattbass6
Afternoon one and all, I hope you are well and keeping safe. Just a quick question, if you don’t mind. I’m thinking of buying an Orange OBC212 cab. I had the pleasure of playing through a rig made up of 12” speakers in December, and the sound was simply amazing. It got me thinking that I may go down this route. Have any if you owned, or played through this particular Orange cabinet? If so, what style of music do you play, what bass, and how did you find the can response/sound? I’m in a heavy progressive rock band using Fender Precision’s, and a Vigier Excess 5. Your comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, and stay safe. Cheers, Matt ⭐️
Trueno
I'd be interested in an answer to this, too. I'm turning into a bit of an Orange-head... based on my experiences with my Orange Crush 50 practice amp. I'd like to scale this up for rehearsals/gigging, but without the weight. I thought one cab for rehearsals, two for gigging plus orange head would be a good rig.
Bill Fitzmaurice
The OBC 212 by all reports sounds good, and it's small. However, the downside to the isobaric configuration is that it has the same output as one twelve in a standard ported cab. It also weighs a lot more than most 112s. Cat Burrito
I did two UK tours with the SP212 which was the original isobaric Orange design. I played on the rock circuit and people would comment on the size but then promptly shut up when I started playing. It was mic'd up but had a killer sound. I still use it for small pub shows when I am not feeling like carting my 4x10 around. The only negativity has been people commenting on the size but it always holds up and I play with some LOUD drummers.

I remember that rig, Tim, amazing amount and quality of sound from that little set up.
karlfer
I had 2 of the original SP212's, used one for smaller gigs, 2 for the bigger stuff. Great sound, heavier than they look but tiny footprint. The only thing that nagged me all the time was the battering effect the rear speakers must have had on the front one. I now use 2 of the more recent OBC 112's (with a Mesa Subway D800) and they are daft portable. I have no need for any more. The rig is light, small, trouser flapping, gut punching & floor bouncing. If you are FOH & monitors, I doubt you would ever need more.

That was my original SP210! The SP212 sounds even better.
Trueno
My local-est shop, PMT in Leeds (obviously shut at the moment) has OBC 112s in stock. Think I'll have to take meself off to try... plenty of "sobering up" time between now and then. I don't know if this is heresy, but I prefer my Orange black! My Orange Crush 50 is black and I think it looks really cool.

mr4stringz
Agree with the above on the SP212. Had this arrangement in the TB combo I had for a while. Dinky little thing but Christ that thing could shift some air. Be surprised if the performance of the OBC212 was any different.
