micahbell
Hey guys I signed up the other day after reading a review about the ACG preamp, as I had a question to post, but after reading around a bit I found this is a pretty cool place, I'll probably stick around a while. My name is Micah - I live over in Canada. I have been playing for about 5 years. My bass is an Ibanez SR405 - not the greatest bass, but it has done me well. I am going to start playing in a bar band coming up soon, so I need a new bass, which will be a Warmoth swamp ash P-Bass body (with their 72 style pickguard) with a jazz bass neck (probably ebony on maple, but possible bloodwood on canary wood) and a custom Fralin single coil P-Bass pickup in it. The colour will be spectra blue with a white pickguard, for those interested. I may put in the ACG preamp but I am not sure yet. The rest of my rig is a Markbass LittleMark II amp into their back ported 4x10 cab. I don't use much in the way of effects - just a BBE Sonic Stomp that is always on, then a Diamond Fireburst distortion and a Diamond Memory Lane delay. All the links in this post go to the products, as most of them mentioned are either American or Canadian companies, and I do not expect you all to know of Warmoth or Fralin pickups. Fralin, lush. Jazz neck, lush. P body, lush. What strings will you be using? 'elcome.
What strings will you be using?
I am not sure yet...I work at a guitar shop (just a small one) so I have a order of D'Addario half wounds coming in with our next string shipment, but I am not sure how I will like them. I have never tried half wounds before, and I have never used D'Addario bass strings, so we will see how it goes. I usually string my Ibanez with a 4 set of GHS Boomers, then use an Elixir for the 5th string.
