steviedee Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 I have an unusual old bass, smaller than a half but bigger than a quarter. I’m looking for a stand just for in the house, not live or anything. I was thinking I could maybe get away with a Hercules cello stand, I don’t want a big massive thing.... any ideas isolated bass folk? Quote
Owen Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 The corner of the room. I just could not trust a DB, or a cello for that matter (I used to play) to a stand. It is asking for gravity adventures. 1 Quote
jacko Posted April 9, 2020 Posted April 9, 2020 I have a hercules DB stand for my 3/4 and it's very stable so I'd imagine a similar cello stand would work well on a 1/3 size. How much bigger than a cello is it? 1 Quote

pete.young Posted April 11, 2020 Posted April 11, 2020 You could make a box for it to stand in, that way you could vary the dimensions so that it was a good fit for your bass. I think Bassace had a thread some time ago about how to do this. 1 Quote
jacko Posted April 13, 2020 Posted April 13, 2020 Sorry for being so slow to reply. Here's a couple of pics of my 3/4 on the hercules stand... 1 Quote
Duckyincarnate Posted April 20, 2020 Posted April 20, 2020 If you need a stand, the Hercules stand is really the only one I would recommend. Very stable and user friendly. 1 Quote
steviedee Posted April 23, 2020 Author Posted April 23, 2020 (edited) I ended up buying one of these. It’s for a double bass but I saw one with a cello and it looked great. It’s not for gigging but looks nice so can live in the sitting room. Also I find myself sitting on the arm of the sofa to practice and this is the same height... that and the fact I’m addicted to buying things Edited April 23, 2020 by steviedee 1 Quote
