I have been wanting to have a go at a neck for a while now. Not had the time. Now I have an abundance of tume but stull very little skill!!

So first I made up a router jig from some old kitchen units.

Top.

I believe that the neck is where the magic happens.  Having done a kit build I've decided that yours is the way to go when I do a scratch build.  It's not a problem to buy bass bodies in varying states of finish but it's tricky to get a neck that's really nice from off the shelf.

I then cut out the fret board once thicknessing it and the neck. Marked it up and stuck it on. Thats where I am upto. I expect to fall down on this project when it comes to carving. But i am enjoying it. Would love to have a playabke neck at the end of it but who knows.

Lovely stuff. If you've come this far I'm sure you have nothing to worry about. Carving a neck is nowhere near as difficult as you might expect.

Thanks for the link.

Anyone know tuner hole size?

It depends on the tuners - usually 18mm for Fender style ones I think, but they can vary. Best to measure the bushings and drill accordingly.
