chrisaxe
Came across these on eBay whilst looking for some shortscale strings. Super cheap but never heard of them... Anyone here had any experience with these? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SET-OF-CHAMP-SHORT-SCALE-BASS-GUITAR-BRONZEWOUND-STRINGS-40-95/153719398885?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225081%26meid%3D533ca062c8a7489c8f213f98aee513b5%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D15%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D264699416147%26itm%3D153719398885%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A2ba214b5-7f13-11ea-acea-be24de3d797e|parentrq%3A7dc674351710a4e865bdd2c6ffe30ee4|iid%3A1
stewblack
Never heard of them, I see they do full length strings 5 for 20 quid, but alas only very thin gauge. Many cheap strings on ebay. The Adagio flatwound ones are pretty good. Matt P
Personally I would be wary of a full set of strings that cost the same as a single string from one of the big string makers, places like strings direct have options that start under 20 quid or there was a set of short scale ernie ball slinkys in the marketplace last time I looked. TheGreek
Alice strings sell for around a fiver - used them on one bass for what seemed like forever - sold the bass before they went off... They've gone up..£6.87 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Light-4-String-Electric-Bass-Strings-Bass-Guitar-Strings-Nickel-Alloy-Wound/222569602427?hash=item33d22e9d7b:g:wmkAAOSwyltZW0gT Edited April 16, 2020 by TheGreek

Matt I used to use strings that cost a fiver a set, for around a ten year period of gigging. Can't remember the brand but the packet was black with cerise writing and a lion on the front. Had no problems at all with them at all, good tone and lasted a long time. I now prefer half rounds.
stewblack
I have a set of Harley Bentons coming with an order sometime soon. Too cheap not to at least try. Have to say though the strings I've tried from the Bass Centre have been exceptionally good. Stadium Elites and Detroit Flats. If money was no object I'd have them on all my basses. Have you tried the J&D (DV247 home brand) 75 jazz, slap some flats on that and you'll have a decent bass for peanuts. 😎
stewblack
I had a J&d 5er back when they were still Jack & Danny. It was fine. The HB strings are just their standard 45s
TheGreek
I saw the HB on eBay and was tempted - I must have about 10 sets of unused strings in my parts drawer though..(thanks D'Addario and the Beta group)
MarkGleaves
I thought I’d give them a try at the price and they actually sound brighter and last longer than the Rotosounds I’ve been using forever. Ive ordered them for all my basses now.
