RJB280
On inspecting the pots on my jazz bass I notice the pot code on all 3 is EP885. I believe this identifies the pot as being manufactured by CTS. Is anyone out there able to confirm this ? Would anyone also happen to know how I date these pots ? I'm assuming the last 4 digits on the pot denote the year and week of manufacture ? Any assistance would be much appreciated cheers
Chiliwailer
From my experience, if CTS, there should be another code starting 304- or 137- (depending on shaft type). After that comes 4 digits, of which the first two are the year and the next two are the week of the year. E.g. 137-6410 is the 10th week of 1964. ikay
This may help - https://www.redstarguitars.com/how-to-decode-cts-pot-numbers/ EP885 would seem to indicate a CTS pot made for Allparts.
Paul S
Bunch of flowers, take them out for a meal, take things steady. Don't expect to get past first base as you would with a valve.
RJB280
Guys, thanks for the advice, helpful as ever, I need to investigate the allparts option further. Paul S, thanks but I'll pass on your advice at the moment owing to the current social distancing rules 👍
