Graham Milton
Does anyone have any opinions about what the optimum wireless rig is for Bass, or is such a notion anathema ?
Dad3353
Anathema..? Surely not..? It's a very practical solution for many. We have a Smooth Hound system, which performs well, although we play out in public only very rarely, so can't give a 'professional' opinion on it. There are many others, more or less expensive; what's your need and/or budget..?
Lozz196
I used a BOSS WL20 and it was great. No faffing about with settings (it automatically finds the best frequency to use), no leads, no power packs, just two bugs, one in bass, one in amp, sorted.
la bam
I use a line 6 g75. Works great. Decent price, good range.
ead
Another Smooth Hound user here. Works extremely well.
mcnach
I've been using a Line6 G30 since 2009... can't fault it.
Fuzzbass2000
Line 6 G30 and G55 plus handful of rechargeable batteries. Can't think of a time they've let me down... and how much I hate having a cable flapping around at my feet when I don't have my wireless rig. dmccombe7
Smooth Hound here as well. Only issue i had was when doing a support gig on a busy stage with their sound desk behind the bass amp ? Their vocal mic receiver was next to desk and bass amp where my Smooth Hound receiver was sitting. It didn't affect the sound a great deal but it did jump about a few frequencies at the start of sound check and then eventually settled down. I could hear a very fast millisecond drop out on occasion but as i said it settled down. Wouldn't normally have 2 receivers sitting that close to each other. They were approx 1-2 feet apart and almost in line with each other if that makes a difference. Other than that its been absolutely perfect. ribbetingfrog
I’ve gigged the Line 6 g30 for a couple of years, it’s great. the receiver fits nicely on my pedal board and runs off the same pedal power supply.

naxos10
Smoot Hound here, good piece of kit and made in the UK to boot.
dudewheresmybass
I have an old x2 basic system and a rack version. Both get used extensively ( or did until I was placed into isolation) and never had a problem, from pub and club stages to large festival stages. I also have a line 6 g30 as a spare. Graham Milton
Thanks for your responses to this. Does the Smooth Hound wireless rig come with a conventional 3 pin UK mains plug?

Graham Milton
Thank you. To be clear It is a normal three pin UK plug, ie I don't need an adaptor?

peteb
I've got a Shure GLXD wireless system, which the best I've found for bass (and I've tried a fair few over the years)...
Graham Milton
Many Thanks, I even got a reply from Chris Fryer who owns Smooth Hound, telling me the same thing. My confusion was caused by a negative Amazon review, which was the result of a mistake which Chris made me aware of. I think I'll give this unit a try. Liked them so much I've ended up with two: one for each of my pedal boards. And to my surprise they've actually outlasted just about everything else on those boards! Chris has been fantastic whenever I've needed any assistance. Edited April 21, 2020 by Al Krow
