To name just a few - 

Had Strats - love the neck pickup but not the others

Had Teles - loved the bridge pickup but always wanted the neck pickup to sound like a Strat.

Had a LP - not for me.

Had a SG - nearly there.

Now got a SG with P90’s - I love every pickup position from it. For me, it’s ideal.  Looks like the one below.

For acoustics  I have a Martin 0018 and a Martin Parlour made around 1840.

Although apparently the new price was £389, and there aren't exactly many of them around. There are some folk on an FB Aria group who might be interested though.

Here's mine: a 25 year old Taylor 510. It's just about wearing in now.

Harley Benton TE-52 NA, very heavy but fantastic neck and tone, total bargain brand new.

Harley Benton SC-450 Plus VB Wilkinson, selectable coil tapping on both pups, good weight, terrific range of tones, again a total bargain brand new.

Taylor 314 ce acoustic, 1 7/8" nut, beautiful sounding guitar. It makes me want to pick it up. Not cheap, but I'll not sell it.

I'm no guitar player, never will be. The electrics are a joy to play through my Roland Micro Cube, (also highly recommended). The Taylor is a total joy.

But I love the simplicity of the tele.

Interesting that a lot of Taylors are showing up too - my favourite is the 410e or 810e. Used to sell lots of Taylors...never owned one.

This thread made me plug the Tele Deluxe in earlier, played along to some good Oi/streetpunk for an hour or so, love that guitar it just plays so well.

The BC collective are obviously less driven by brand names than they are by functionality.

Eggle and Telecasters seem to be well represented.

Those early 90’s Eggles are great guitars. The BC collective have great taste.

I’ve got 4 guitars - two acoustic and two electric...

• 1995 Gordon Smith G-90 prototype (won in a charity guitar raffle - presented to me by Steve Howe),
• 1998 Gordon Smith Gypsy II semi-solid,

 

• 1999 Brook Tamar acoustic - ordered the day after the eclipse in August 1999. The back is two piece lightly figured walnut from a tree that blew down near the Brook workshop in the great storm of 87.
• 2003 Fylde Gordon Giltrap Signature acoustic (won in a charity guitar competition - presented by to me by Gordon Giltrap).

Gordon Smith really are one of UK guitar building’s best kept secrets. Wonderful guitars that punch way above their weight in terms of how they sound and what they deliver!

Other instruments: 

• 1988 Fylde Octavius Bouzouki ,
• 2000s Brüko ukulele.

I probably have more money tied up in guitars than basses.

When I was making valve amps about 15 years ago, I started building up a collection of guitar to take to shows, so I could demo my amps with all sorts.

first up is my 1989 PRS signature guitar. This is a great guitar

Then there is my bitsa strat, there with Uli.

My Gibson AFD Les Paul ( really good)

There's a 67 SG jr, an old Ovation shallow bowl with cutaway, a couple of Vintage brand guitars (3 actually)

I had never seen one of those. I can't decide whether I like it or not... it's attractive, for paisley (not a fan typically, as you've gathered).

In my case, I forgot to mention... not only I wanted a Stratocaster with a proper humbucker at the bridge (it's a DiMarzio H8 on mine, which seems to be some kind of model made specifically for Fender but based on the PAF Pro) and a Floyd Rose... but I had a thing for white/cream strats too. I blame Ritchie Blackmore for that. So when I found a white Sambora model in Rose Morris in London (pre-internet days, I had to phone many shops) I went there to try it (I was in Reading at the time). They had the one I got and a black one. The black one had a nicer setup but I had wanted a cream strat for ages so... that's what I got. I struggled a bit to set it up just right (the joy of floating bridges eh?) but it was a good one.

They also had a USA cherry sunburst that was very nice, but not being a fan of sunbursts or the stars as fingerboard inlays... meant I saved a lot of money. ESpecially because I don't think my girlfriend would have bought me the USA one, but when she saw the price of the MIM one I got, she said "that's ok, I'll get this for you"

Nice, a Gordon Smith!

I had a couple, the first being a simple but wonderful GS-1(single humbucker, double cutaway).

I found it used in a guitar shop in 1993 in Cambridge. I was after a Squier Strat at the time and I walked into this shop... they had no Squiers. They showed me a bunch of Peavey stratocaster style guitars. I didn't love any of them. Then the guy said "you know, I know you said your budget is £200, but there's this guitar here which is much better than any of those you tried..." and he fetches a guitar I had noticed as soon as I walked in. It was a 1986 model and they wanted £225. 

I walked out of there with the guitar and a hard case. What a great guitar that was. I then bought a Graduate 60 in 2001. I sold both in 2008. The GS-1 was such a great guitar...
